Corinth and The Corinth Canal

The Corinth Canal
About 15 km (9.3 miles) north of Helen of Troy’s hot springs, you will encounter the capital of the prefecture of Corinth, also called Corinth; a modern city full of life and a perfect chance for a coffee break and snacks in one of the many cafés that dot the charming pedestrian areas of Corinth.
One of Greece’s most iconic sights the Corinth Canal –or the Isthmus of Corinth- that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic in a marvel of engineering. The canal is 6.4 km (4 miles) long, 21.3 m (70 ft.) to 24.6 m (80 ft.) wide and 8 m (26 ft.) deep on average. If you are lucky enough to witness a cruise ship passing through the canal with the assistance of the towboats, you will see one of the important functions of this man-made feature.
