The Corinth Canal

One of Greece’s most iconic sights the Corinth Canal –or the Isthmus of Corinth- that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic in a marvel of engineering. The canal is 6.4 km (4 miles) long, 21.3 m (70 ft.) to 24.6 m (80 ft.) wide and 8 m (26 ft.) deep on average. If you are lucky enough to witness a cruise ship passing through the canal with the assistance of the towboats, you will see one of the important functions of this man-made feature.
